FUEL TV (www.fuel.tv) launches “UFC Tonight,” the official weekly news and information show of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, on Tuesday, January 3 at 10:00 PM ET. To kick off the premiere of the show, UFC President Dana White appears in studio as the inaugural guest.
“UFC Tonight” draws on a group of UFC experts in the studio and out in the field. The show is co-hosted by veteran UFC fighter and multiple title contender Kenny Florian and former WEC announcer and UFC host Todd Harris. Two-time World MMA Awards Journalist of the Year Ariel Helwani adds insider news, while FOX NFL SUNDAY Insider, MMA Athletics Founder, and UFC on FUEL TV Weigh-in and Pre- and Post-fight show host Jay Glazer contributes feature segments. The show includes coverage and in-depth analysis of fight events, dramatic highlights and exclusive pre- and post-fight interviews with fighters.
To kick off the premiere of “UFC Tonight,” White serves as the first guest, offering the audience an insider’s perspective on the fights from UFC 141, a preview of upcoming events and the future of the UFC.
UFC President Dana White About the Alistair Overeem – Brock Lesnar Fight: “I was impressed by Overeem – I’ve been talking about him a lot and not in a positive way, and now I’m eating crow. Without a doubt, he’s one of the top three heavyweights in the world.”
White On Overeem’s Next Fight: “Junior dos Santos could fight Alistair Overeem, hopefully in the summer. dos Santos is ready, but Overeem wants to take a break. This is a fight that will be exciting.”
White Not Surprised by Brock’s Retirement:
“I had no idea that Brock would retire. He’s had his run. It was fun while Brock was here. I don’t think he’ll come back.”
White On Nate Diaz – Donald Cerrone Fight:
“Both are mean, nasty fighters. It was a war, and I love when fights live up to the hype. Dias is in the mix for the title shot.”
White On Johny Hendricks – Jon Fitch Fight:
“Hendricks did something that GSP couldn’t do. There’s no way this was an early stoppage. Hendricks comes bursting out of nowhere and takes down the number-two guy. He’s got world class wrestling and nasty hands – he’s going to get another big fight.”
White’s Fighter of the Year:
“It’s Jon Jones. The youngest Light Heavyweight Champion in UFC history, with four wins in 2011. He’s only 24 – wait until he’s 27 or 28. He could be the greatest fighter ever.”
White’s Fight of the Year:
“Dan Henderson versus Mauricio Rua. Henderson is terrorizing me for his next fight.”
White Comments On The Next Big Super Fight:
“If we can get Chael Sonnen versus Anderson Silva, that will probably be held in Brazil in a stadium. Everyone in the world will want to watch that.”
White on Where the UFC Going This Year?
“We’re going to Sweden for the first time. Hopefully we’ll go to Paris this year as well.”
